At Coastal RC, the track surface is CRC black carpet, so there's no shortage of traction. There's a distinct lack of dirt, but the jumps won't leave any doubt what Off Road racing is all about on the 88 x 52FT surface that sees a regular rotation of layout and jump features.

Buggies are quick, light, and fast reacting, with narrow tires, minimal bodies, and the signature wing finish the iconic open wheel look. Available in 2WD and 4WD varieties, racing in separate classes, buggies are an off-road staple class and a crowd pleaser. Buggy models such as TLR Racing, Team Associated, Xray and more are available in our Hobby Store.

Stadium trucks are the slightly wider, larger tired cousin to Buggies. Still open wheel, but no wing, and a larger coverage body. Stadium trucks are a little easier to drive, but that doesn't make the racing less exciting.

Short Course Trucks look like the full size thing. Full coverage bodies that cover the wheels and tires allow for real "fender rubbing" contact racing, while "under the lid" you have the tunability of a stadium truck.

The Traxxas truck that kicked off the Short Course class. This class is about getting started racing with minimal starting cost against others with identical equipment. The Traxxas line is a great product to get started. Its affordable price point and durable quality is a fan favorite amongst beginners. What is Stock? Short answer: a motor type/wind has been identified for the class.
Modified: you can run as fast of a motor as you want.
In many cases, there could be a stock and modified class for each chassis type.

Rules can be a bummer, but racing on a "level field" is hopefully enough reward to get through this bit.
Efforts are being made through the class listings to help represent popular classes based on turnout. Classes are not completely ranked, however, those listed in the "Weekly" category have a much firmer chance of being run regularly.

Stock Slash
COASTAL RC SPEC SLASH RULES
The Spec Slash Class is a Ready to Run class, out of the box.
Chassis : No changes to the chassis may be made. The stock Slash chassis is the only authorized chassis for the Stock Spec class.
Body: Only the stock Traxxas Slash body or similar SCT body will be allowed for the Stock Spec Class
Steering: No changes to the steering system may be changed. Stock Slash parts only. Only option is servo saver or servo horn.
Electronics: Only the stock Slash electronics may be used. Original XL-5 ESC and stock 2075 servo may be used. Original Traxxas radio is the only allowed radio in the Stock class.
Motor: Stock 12T Traxxas motor is the only allowed motor in the stock class
Battery: Any 7.4v Battery under 50C rating is allowed in the stock class.
Wheels: Original stock Slash wheels are only allowed
Tires: Original Stock Traxxas Tires are only allowed
Suspension: No modifications may be made to the stock suspension. No aftermarket parts are allowed. See tuning options for springs and allowed changes
Drivetrain: Stock Slash parts only. See Tuning options for optional spur gears. Pinion gear is allowed without modification and must match Spur gear in Slash Manual. No Ball Diffs
Tuning options: Original Traxxas parts are allowed as follows
- Aluminum Shock Caps – Part# 2667
- Traxxas Turnbuckles – Part #’s 3737, 3737A, 3139A, 3139X
- Spur Gears – 4686, 4683 and 8690
- Minimum Ride Height is 34mm
